When to Book what
Article 12
Most people spend a lot of time deciding which treatment to have. Far fewer think carefully about when to have it. Timing your treatments around the seasons can meaningfully improve your results, reduce unnecessary downtime, and lower the risk of complications such as post-treatment pigmentation from sun exposure. This article sets out the seasonal logic behind the treatments I offer, so you can plan more effectively throughout the year.
Why Seasonal Timing Matters
Several of the treatments I offer work by triggering a biological repair or remodelling process in your skin or underlying tissue. That process takes time, often weeks to months, before the full result becomes visible. Choosing the right season means the healing and regeneration phase aligns with conditions that support it, lower UV exposure, cooler temperatures, and reduced activity demands on the treated area.
It also means that by the time results are at their best, you are likely heading into the season where you most want them. That is not a coincidence. It is planning.
Autumn and Winter: The Foundation Season
Autumn and winter are the most productive period for treatments that involve tissue remodelling, collagen stimulation, or significant healing. UV index is lower, you are less likely to be in direct sun for extended periods, and your skin is generally in a more rested, less reactive state.
Fat dissolving injections are ideally started in autumn. The gradual reduction of localised fat deposits takes multiple sessions spaced four to six weeks apart, meaning a course begun in October or November will have reached its full effect by spring and early summer. Cooler temperatures also help manage post-treatment swelling more comfortably. This is not a quick fix, and results develop progressively. Starting early gives the process the time it needs.
Microneedling works best in the off-sun months. The treatment creates controlled micro-channels in the skin surface to stimulate collagen production and improve skin texture and tone. After a session, the skin is temporarily more sensitive to UV exposure, which increases the risk of pigmentation if sun protection is not rigorous. Autumn and winter remove much of that risk. A course of sessions during the cooler months prepares your skin well for the brighter months ahead.
PLLA (Poly-L-Lactic Acid) and polynucleotide injections are both strong choices for winter. PLLA stimulates gradual collagen production over several months, with the most visible improvements arriving in spring. Polynucleotides support cellular repair, tissue hydration, and regeneration progressively over a course of sessions. Both treatments reward patience, and winter is the right season to start that investment.
Spring: Regenerative Boost and Skin Preparation
Spring is a strong window for regenerative treatments that support skin health and vitality ahead of increased sun exposure and social activity in summer. The UV risk is rising but not yet at its peak, making this a reasonable period for treatments with shorter recovery windows.
Exosome therapy, including exosome treatments combined with scalp microneedling for hair thinning, fits well in spring. Exosomes deliver concentrated growth factors that support skin cell regeneration and tissue repair, improving hydration, glow, and overall skin quality. The regenerative effect unfolds over weeks, meaning a spring course has you at your best through summer. Downtime is minimal, making this a practical choice for a busy period.
Spring is also a good time to reassess your skin after winter and begin planning any combination treatments for the year ahead. A consultation during this period gives us time to design a sensible, staged treatment plan rather than rushing into anything.
Summer: Maintenance and Protection
Summer is not the ideal time for treatments that involve significant tissue stimulation or that increase sun sensitivity. That includes more intensive courses of PLLA, polynucleotide injectables, or deep microneedling, where the combination of higher UV exposure and post-treatment skin sensitivity raises the risk of hyperpigmentation or slower healing.
That said, summer does not mean stopping altogether. Anti-wrinkle treatments, dermal fillers, and targeted injectable treatments can still be carried out safely with appropriate aftercare and diligent daily sun protection. The key is being honest about your lifestyle during this period. If you are spending significant time in direct sun, some treatments are better postponed by a few weeks. This is something we would discuss at consultation and factor into your plan.
Summer is also the right time to focus on SPF discipline and supportive skincare, protecting the investment you made in autumn and winter treatments.
Autumn Again: Refresh Before the Festive Season
Early autumn offers another strong treatment window, particularly for skin rejuvenation before the busy social period of late autumn and winter. Beginning a course of microneedling or polynucleotide injections in September or October allows enough healing time for results to be visible and settled well before December. Similarly, starting fat dissolving injections at this point sets you up well for spring and early summer contouring results.

Planning Your Year With Me
The most effective aesthetic results I see are in clients who think about their treatments as a plan rather than a single appointment. Knowing roughly what you want to address across the year means we can sequence treatments so they complement each other, allow proper recovery between sessions, and deliver results when they matter most to you.
