The same biology that slows collagen repair in the face also affects the scalp environment over time. Polynucleotides address both, working through your body's own repair processes rather than adding volume or relaxing movement. ## What you are actually noticing Dull texture, fine creases and reduced firmness reflect gradual changes in the deeper layer of the skin, where collagen and elastin are produced. When that production slows, the overall quality and resilience of your skin starts to shift. On the face, the under-eye area often shows this earliest. Thinning tissue beneath the skin creates shadows that sit independently of pigment. On the scalp, a less supported environment around the follicles can contribute to diffuse thinning over time. These changes are biological and vary between individuals based on genetics, environment and overall health. ## My approach at Dr Alluris Aesthetics Before any treatment, I want to understand your skin or scalp in detail. I draw on a neurosurgical background in precision anatomy, which shapes how I approach placement and planning. Every decision follows a thorough assessment. Polynucleotides suit this approach well. They support your skin from within by encouraging the cells responsible for collagen and elastin to work more actively. I use primarily Plinest, a CE-marked, highly purified polynucleotide product, at both my Crystal Palace and Mayfair clinics. Every treatment is planned following consultation. Suitability, realistic outcomes and the right protocol for your skin or scalp are discussed in full before we proceed. > The role of treatment here is to create the conditions for repair. Your skin does the work. My role is precise placement and planning. ## How polynucleotides work in practice Polynucleotides are highly purified DNA fragments that, once introduced into the skin, signal your own repair cells to become more active. Over weeks, this leads to improved hydration, better texture, firmer skin and a more even quality overall. The change is gradual and builds with each session. Each treatment takes around 45 minutes with topical numbing applied beforehand. Downtime is minimal. Mild redness, bumps or tenderness may appear for a few hours. Polynucleotides delivered via fine injections into the scalp support the tissue quality around each follicle and improve local conditions over time. The scalp protocol follows two stages. The first involves four sessions spaced two weeks apart. The second involves a further four sessions spaced four weeks apart. After that, a single maintenance session every six months or when you notice increased shedding is usually sufficient to sustain results. This approach suits clients noticing diffuse thinning across the scalp rather than pattern hair loss. Suitability is always assessed at consultation and individual results vary. I offer this as a standalone treatment at both Crystal Palace and Mayfair. ## What a consultation with me looks like We start with what you have noticed and when. I examine the skin or scalp under good light, assess the quality of what I see, and explain what polynucleotides may realistically offer given your individual presentation. We review your medical history in full and I walk you through the protocol clearly, including session spacing, expected timeline and honest limitations. If a different approach suits you better, I will say so directly.
