Could Exosome Microneedling or Polynucleotides Help?

You have probably already noticed it. More hair in the brush. A thinner parting. Strands that feel finer than they used to. If you are here, you are past the wondering stage and looking for something that might actually help. Here is what I offer, how it works, and whether it is likely to be right for you.

What You Are Noticing

Hair thinning is rarely sudden. It is a slow shift in the follicle's biological environment: shorter growth cycles, reduced scalp circulation, and cellular signals that gradually stop supporting healthy hair.

In most cases the follicle is not gone. It is underperforming. Regenerative treatments work by improving the conditions around it, which is why starting earlier generally produces better results than waiting.

My Approach at Dr Alluris Aesthetics

My background is in neurosurgery. Precision, anatomy, and doing things safely are not values I apply selectively. They shape every treatment I carry out, including scalp work.

I do not offer regenerative hair treatments without a proper assessment first. I need to understand your pattern of thinning, your medical history, and whether the treatments I offer are genuinely appropriate for you. If they are not, I will tell you clearly and suggest what might be more useful instead.

Treatment Options That Often Help

Exosome Therapy with Scalp Microneedling

Exosomes are tiny biological messengers that carry growth factors between cells. Applied to the scalp, they deliver concentrated signals that can encourage sluggish or miniaturised follicles back into a more active growth phase.

Microneedling creates fine, shallow channels in the scalp surface. This improves local circulation, triggers a natural collagen induction response, and significantly increases how deeply the exosome preparation penetrates to where follicles actually sit.

Together, these two treatments produce a stronger effect than either alone. A 2025 study in the Journal of Drugs in Dermatology found that an exosome complex combined with microneedling promoted hair growth in participants with self-perceived thinning, with clinician-rated improvement in the majority of subjects.

Typical downtime is 24 to 48 hours of mild redness or scalp sensitivity. A course of sessions spaced several weeks apart is standard. Results are gradual and natural, and vary between individuals.

Polynucleotide Scalp Injections

Polynucleotides are injected directly into the scalp to support the tissue environment around your follicles. They reduce inflammation, improve microcirculation, and stimulate the cellular repair processes that healthy hair growth depends on.

I use CE-marked formulations with a strong clinical evidence base. These are the same class of regenerative treatment I use for skin renewal on the face, explored in more detail on my biostimulatory and skin regeneration treatments page. Most clients begin noticing changes in scalp feel and early density from around six to ten weeks into a course.

Downtime is minimal. Mild tenderness at injection sites typically settles within a day or two.

Key points for both treatments

  • Work with your scalp's own biology rather than overriding it
  • Gradual, natural results over weeks to months. Not instant
  • A course of sessions is standard for meaningful benefit
  • Not suitable for everyone. Suitability is always confirmed at consultation
  • Not appropriate during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or with certain scalp or health conditions

More detail on what I offer for hair is on my hair restorative treatments page.

What to Expect in a Consultation With Me

  • I ask about your pattern, timeline, family history, and medical background
  • I examine the scalp directly and assess the degree and type of thinning
  • I explain which treatment, if any, I think is suitable for your specific situation
  • I give you a realistic picture of what a course looks like and what it may achieve
  • You ask whatever you need to. There is no rush

Consultations are available at SkinTouch, 77 Church Road, Crystal Palace SE19 2TA and at 58 South Molton Street, Mayfair W1K 5SL. You can read more about my background on the about Dr Adam page.
